Quick Link menu (click to jump to more information) Introduction Our new motoring tour to the delightful and welcoming South West of France over the first weekend of June takes in two contrasting and established events; Sport et Collection at the Circuit de Val de Vienne and the Chateau des Vigiers Concours d’Elegance near Bergerac in the Dordogne. This is followed by short rally to discover the pleasures of the Grande Champagne Cognac region and the nearby Atlantic coast. We will mainly be based in the lovely town of Cognac on the river Charente, where the local producers will also provide stimulating hospitality. 6 night itinerary Thursday 31 May Check in in Portsmouth for the 2030h crossing to St Malo. On board we will enjoy a welcome drink giving us an opportunity to become acquainted and overnight cabin accommodation is reserved for you. Friday 1 June Leaving St Malo, our first stop will be the stunning personal collection at the Manoir de L’Automobile in Brittany where refreshments are also available. There is then an enjoyable drive south through western France to the Charente. On arrival, check in to your three star hotel in Cognac, before a welcome drink and dinner at the hotel. Saturday 2 June Today we
will drive past Angoulême and into the Charente Limousine, then a short distance
up the Vienne valley to the circuit of Val de Vienne. Here we will participate
in the great track day festival which has been created in aid of the Cancer
Charity. You can give rides on the circuit to paying passengers and all proceeds
go to this worthwhile cause. Lunch is included at the circuit. Dinner is
arranged at a special location in Cognac, and our local hosts plan to put on a
memorable
Sunday 3 JuneDriving south today through the vineyards of the Dordogne to the spectacular Chateau des Vigiers where their annual Concours d’Elegance is taking place. There is the opportunity for specially beautiful or unusual cars to participate. Lunch is provided on the terrace at the chateau. This evening will be free to explore Cognac and we will recommend a choice of restaurants. Monday 4 June We will
depart for a rally through the Grande Champagne. This will be a leisurely drive
through the vineyards and along the
Tuesday 5 June Today’s drive follows the coastal route to the oyster beds for a tasting. Then a visit to royal shipmaking workshops near Rochefort and have lunch at an auberge by the river. In the afternoon we visit an historic shipbuilding project, the maritime museum and the aquarium. This evening we will stay in the old town of La Rochelle, within walking distance of the inner port and with a farewell dinner at a seafood restaurant on the quayside. Wednesday 6 June Depart after breakfast for Caen and the 1700h ferry, arriving in Portsmouth at 2145h.
