Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix 2008...

28th September 2008 -  Motorsport main menu - 0845 003 2213

It’s the second of the two new race venues for 2008 and an incredible destination for the travelling enthusiast. The circuit will be run through the streets in the area of the marina and at nighttime under floodlights! This is a massive undertaking for the relatively small island of Singapore.

Happily Singapore already has the necessary infrastructure to welcome thousands of visitors. It has a reputation for being a shopper’s paradise and there’s certainly no shortage of malls and boutiques, but there’s a whole world of other attractions and more than enough to keep you busy for a long weekend. In Chinatown and Little India you can pick up some bargains, take a bumboat along the river for a different view of the skyline and visit the infamous Changi Prison. Inland you will find tropical forests and nature reserves but closer to the city and within walking distance are the beautiful and tranquil Botanical Gardens and the National Orchid Garden. If time allows a night safari at the zoo is magical. Occasionally you need to relax and you can do this by your hotel pool. Alternatively, you can cross by ferry or by cable car to Sentosa – the resort island with soft white sandy beaches popular with all Singaporeans. Eating out in Singapore is a pleasure as there’s so much to choose from. Start your evening with a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar at Raffles – everyone does! For authentic Chinese, the East Coast Seafood Centre is a must, for contemporary cuisine Chijmes is ideal or, for the more adventurous there are hawker stalls where you can try a little of everything. Singapore is ideally placed to turn a race weekend into a longer holiday with excellent connections by air to a host of resort destinations. You can round off your trip with a few nights on Penang or Langkawi – two of Malaysia’s idyllic islands – or further north in one of Thailand’s popular beach locations. Just ask us, we’ll be happy to tailor-make it for you.
