In 2008 Lewis Hamilton added his name to the illustrious list of winners of the fabled Monaco Grand Prix. It was good strategy, sensible driving and a certain amount of luck which gave him the victory.  Adrian Sutil in his Force India had the drive of his life and had it not been for a shunt from Raikkonen he would have taken 4th place and points.  As with so many races in 2008 it was good to see an unusual mix of teams and drivers in the top eight.

New race venues may try to emulate it but there’s no substitute for the real thing.  Monaco enjoys a spectacular setting on a beautiful stretch of coastline and your first view of it is always breathtaking.

Considering the size of the Principality the organisation required to accommodate the thousands of spectators, the teams and the trucks is awesome.  It is achieved with precision and begins just after Easter when the grandstands and miles of armco barrier start to be erected.  On the Monday before the race the transporters begin to make their way slowly and carefully through the narrow streets to drop off their precious cargo in the paddock. Elsewhere in Monaco the souvenir stalls go up, the harbour fills with yachts, final touches are made to the hospitality areas and extra supplies delivered to the bars, restaurants and shops.  Then suddenly, on Thursday morning, Monaco is rocked by the noise of F1 engines thundering around the tight street circuit.

We have been organising holidays to the Monaco Grand Prix for many years and you can be sure that wherever you stay you will be well looked after.  Our tours give you the flexibility to fly from an airport near you or, if you prefer, travel by train or by car with overnight stops en route to break your journey.  Our hotels are in Monaco, in Beaulieu and in Nice and if you are staying outside Monaco rail tickets are included.  This means you can come and go at times to suit you. Transfers between Nice Airport and your hotel are always included and we will be on hand throughout your stay for advice and assistance.

Hotels in Bealieau, Monaco, Beausoleil or Cap d'Ail...
In Monaco you are on the spot and can watch it all happen as it happens.  At the same time you can visit the many other attractions on offer in the Principality and along the coast.   The changing of the guard takes place daily on the rock, the Prince’s car collection is open to visitors, the many fragrant gardens are havens of peace and the beach is white and pristine.  The frequent coastal rail service will take you east to Menton or Italy and west to Nice, Juan-les-Pins and Cannes.

Beaulieu is a quieter resort midway between Nice and Monaco.  Here too there is a pleasant white beach, casino and marina with plenty of shops and restaurants.  It is a delightful resort and very convenient for Monaco.

Accommodation at all hotels is on bed and breakfast basis.
