Alfa and Bizzarrini in pitsIntroduction...

The Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or is France’s premier historic race meeting. Held for some years at the legendary Montlhéry autodrome, until its recent closure for public events, it has now successfully transferred to the fine Dijon-Prenois circuit, much loved by enthusiasts who recall some great French GP’s there in past years. Dijon is of course the capital of Burgundy and a centre for some of the greatest food and wine of France. So this is irresistible for us, having all the makings of a great weekend of historic motor sport and gastronomy.

We have organised an enjoyable driving tour down to Burgundy on great roads. We stay in Gevrey Chambertin, at the centre of the Cote d’Or’s most illustrious wine production. We have arranged VIP hospitality at the circuit with our own catering in a private suite over the pit lane looking at the start/finish line. We have also arranged tickets for the competitors’ barbecue and concert in the Paddock, so throughout the weekend you are at the heart of the action. In addition we have organised some special dinners and unusual tasting visits, to explore to the maximum the pleasures of this famous wine producing and gastronomic heartland.

250F in the pits6 Day Tour

Thursday 21 June

Take a crossing in the middle of the day from Dover to Calais. Our hotel for this evening is a charming mill just 44 km from Calais, where we will have our welcome dinner on the first evening and stay overnight.

Friday 22 June

The roadbook offers a scenic drive through the Somme to Reims.  If time permits we will visit the historic Reims Grand Prix circuit and afterwards, continuing south on excellent driving routes we will arrive in Burgundy. There is practice at the circuit today between 0930h and 1800h if you prefer to go directly to the track.

We will stay for the next three nights at a delightful three star hotel in Gevrey Chambertin amongst the vineyards close to Dijon. Dinner at a classic Burgundian wine cellar within walking distance of the hotel is included this evening and if time permits we will enjoy a pre-dinner wine tasting. The hotel has ample secure parking.

Saturday 23 June

After breakfast we will drive to the circuit. Refreshments will be available throughout the day, including lunch with wine in our hospitality suite.

Practice restarts at the circuit from 0800h until 0940h. The races begin at 0955h and last until 1900h. At lunchtime there will be a flying display of vintage aircraft. This evening there is a paddock party with music and a barbecue to which we are invited.

Sunday 24 June

Racing starts today at 0800h and you can make your way there at your leisure. The hospitality suite will be open throughout for you to enjoy refreshments and lunch with wine. At lunchtime there will be a parade of special cars on the circuit and afterwards the racing will continue until 1815h.

This evening we will enjoy entertainment and dinner with wine at a local chateau. Taxis this evening will be arranged for those who wish at extra and shared cost.

Monday 25 June

This morning we will go to the town of Beaune to visit the Hospices and cellars with a tasting and a buffet lunch as the guests of one of the oldest négotiants in Beaune. Then we travel north up the valley of the river Seine to the Champagne region. We will stay at a very comfortable four star hostellerie close to Epernay. This evening we will have a champagne reception and a special gastronomic dinner.
