As a result of our many years' association with the Victoria Racing Club, we are
proud to be the only tour operator who is allocated seats in the Members'
Grandstand where we can offer the finest reserved seating with views of the
finishing straight and the winning post. Numerous bars, eating establishments,
Tote windows, TV screens and Bookmaking boards are situated within the
grandstand behind the reserved seating area.
The Victoria Derby: Saturday 30 October
Victoria Derby Day: known as one of the world's great race-days with
high-class fashion and fabulous horseracing. The day provides a sizzling start
to the racing week with the only all-Group race-day on the Australian racing
calendar. The feature race, the AAMI Victoria Derby, is a classic Group 1
staying test for three-year-olds over 2,500 metres. In 2009 the New Zealand
horse Monaco Consul was the winner, ahead of Extra Zero and Viking Legend.
The Melbourne Cup: Tuesday 02 November
The Melbourne Cup: "The Race That Stops the Nation" - The Melbourne Cup Carnival
at Flemington Park creates a party atmosphere unparalleled by any other sporting
event. The Emirates Melbourne Cup is much more than a gruelling 3,200m (2 miles)
handicap race, it is a celebration of the Sport of Kings and the richest
handicap race in the world. The 2009 race was won by Shocking, ridden by Corey
Brown, who finished quite comfortably ahead of Irish contenders Crime Scene and
Mourilyan, who were second and third respectively.
